Biography

Ashram de las Californias

On the eve of a new millennium, when it seems that in our daily lives we continue to start from schemes and trends that for centuries have not left us satisfied or at least reassured, it becomes important to reflect, analyze and search for new visions that can give us more clarity and provide us with certainty about our actions and our conscience. Master José Marcelli belonged to a generation of forerunners of change, who were born in the interlude between the two great wars, and who have been characterized by their tireless spirit of research and experimentation.

He has indicated that he does not intend to be presented with a resume of statistical data, because that may not be really meaningful, in any case he would like to be presented as a being engaged in an authentic search for himself, and that along the way he has found unique answers and new enigmas, but above all his own life has allowed him to identify with other human beings, thus, discovering that many of the questions we all ask ourselves, have simple answers that however, for some may simply be transcendental.

Mexican by birth, Maestro Marcelli from a very young age developed a definite inclination for philosophical studies, literature and especially art and aesthetics. The transcendent humanism that he promotes is the result of his personal experience and of a plural, diverse, multiple and sometimes contrasting vision of the world that is recreated in the historical time of the cultures that the human being creates and recreates and that in turn is summarized in the profound experience of oneself experienced by those who transcend forms and frontiers and find a basic unity, simply in being human.

Ashram Piedras del SolIn his youth he stood out as a high mountain climber, this high-risk sport led him to a permanent observation of himself and his environment, he discovered that there was the possibility of an identity with nature, with the rhythm that moves the human effort and with every object that surrounds us. In a natural way he began to investigate about the foods that would facilitate his walks in the mountains, breathing, physical conditioning, relaxation, and concentration, as time went by he discovered many possibilities for the human and transpersonal development of individuals. In 1961 he met his Master, Master José Manuel Estrada, who would greatly influence his life.

The communication between the two began through a dialogue in the manner of multiple schools of philosophy and initiation, and so it went for more than twenty years in which they were sharing every day more closely the same life project. With his Master he trained as a yoga teacher, participated in the first yoga institute open to the public internationally, and he himself later trained multiple generations of teachers and disciples in what he called the art of living. Together with his Master, he founded in 1971 the association that today we know as the International Network of Cultural Non-Governmental Organizations Great Universal Fraternity (RedGFU).

An organization that gathers multiple associations that from diverse perspectives work in favor of the quality of life of the people. In 1981, José Marcelli graduated as Master and began to make countless tours of instruction in America and Europe, having given more than three thousand lectures, besides courses, radio and television presentations and international congresses. In 1986 he organized and founded the International Meetings for Human Fraternity, Coplanet, which are held every two years, and to date have been held in Colombia, Spain (twice), Argentina, Mexico and Italy. These events have the purpose of facilitating communication and human solidarity.

Maestro Marcelli, with the highest rank within the schools of the Institution, stood out for his written work. He regularly sent his messages, articles, and chronicles to the members of the REDGFU.
